Right on schedule the 2010 Unit Renovation got underway 1/4/10.
First up Maintenance goes to work removing the old tile floors,
all the built-in cabinets, wall tile (except the 2nd Bath
area which will get replacement floor tile only) and plumbing
fixtures.

Old
floor tiles removed, old thin set also cleared and surface
prepared for new tiles in main entrance walkway

Kitchen
is a main area to be addressed for the first time since original
construction.

Making
sure that there are no leaks or hidden damage means clearing
things to the bare walls.

The
new cabinetry for the master bath and kitchen areas are distributed
to the units and will be installed after the new floor tile.

The
floor area in front of the counter will get new tile - replacing
the former carpeted section for a cleaner look, easier maintenance
and longer life.

In
the master bedroom the tile flooring is removed and the old
cabinetry gone. Once again maintenance will use this rare
opportunity to ensure there are no hidden issues and then
each building will be pressure tested prior to the reinstallation
of the plumbing fixtures.

All
the wall tile removed from around the jacuzzi tub to be replaced
with granite.

The
long awaited doors to the master bath area are in place.

Cement
board behind the finish walls help ensure the units remain
undamaged by water.

2nd
bath area floor tiles removed and floor prepped for new finish

In
the B side master the shower gets checked

And
the door for the toilet area, another long awaited change,
is in place.

The
B side lock off also gets all new floor tile

The
2nd smallest bed room is getting a major makeover in this
round.

Outside
the granite has arrived.

Temporary
"pods" house the new doors and other replacement
items until needed.
This
is the first few units of 32 (Buildings 3 & 4) to be done
in this current round of work. Watch for updates as the new
finish work starts to be installed in the next few days and
we see what this first of two steps of unit renovation will
look like in these initial 32 units.
