3/16/09 The landscaping renovation, the first total renovation since original construction in 1992-1995, gets started near Building 1

Until now the original landscape work has been maintained to keep the grounds looking as fresh as possible.

As plantings aged they have been pruned back, grown to exceed the allowable size and in some cases removed.

Some areas under stress, such as the plants used to screen the HVAC units, have been harder than others to support. In this area all the original planting are now removed to prepare for the new plants.

The new master plan is designed to improve on the original work, blend in with our two recently upgraded areas around the RALPH Building and Picnic / Recreation area and keep as many mature trees as possible. During the preliminary inventory only one existing tree was marked for removal.

Most of the old mid-height foliage will be removed and replaced with new plantings

A new palette for welcoming design

Over at the Picnic / Recreation area some of the fencing is being relocated to add more access to the grass areas.

The original layout closed off the grass from the courts and walkways

By opening the space it will allow enjoyment of sports / picnics on the formerly inaccessible areas.

Work on the landscape renovation will be ongoing throughout 2009.
